(OOLITIC) - An Oolitic man was arrested Monday morning after a woman called police saying she had been battered.
At 5:58 a.m. Lawrence County police were called to Casey's General Store in Oolitic after they received the call from the woman.
According to Sheriff Mike Branham, the woman told officers that 43-year-old William Nicholson had shoved her in the presence of her 8-year-old son.
"The woman had no visible injuries," Branham added.
Officers then went to a home in the 400 block of Hoosier Avenue in Oolitic to talk to Nicholson.
"She also told police that Nicholson had marijuana, but when officers talked to the victim, Kathy Sullivan, she admitted to having the marijuana and turned it over to officers."
Nicholson was arrested on a charge of domestic violence in the presence of a minor and 35-year-old Sullivan, also of Oolitic, was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana.
"The Department of Child Services for an immediate response due to the presence of the 8-year-old," Branham added.
