(PAOLI) - The Orange County Drug Team arrested three people on charges of dealing meth.
On May 29, the team served a search warrant at a home Jerry and Serena DeWeese at 1537 South State Road 37.
During that search police found meth, marijuana and items used to ingest and deal the drugs and several guns. The meth was found in a gun safe along with the guns. The marijuana was found in the house and growing in the yard.
Police arrested 38-year-old Jerry DeWeese on May 20 and his wife 35-year-old Serena DeWeese was arrested the next day. Both are facing charges of dealing meth, possession of meth, possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.
Two children were referred to Child Protective Services.
Jerry Deweese has a previous conviction related to drug lab precursors.
Then on May 29th officers arrested Leah Ewen, in Washington County.
Ewen, of Hardinsburg, is accused of dealing meth. When she was arrested she was in possession of meth.
Ewen's arrest came after drug team members served a Washington County arrest warrant on her for dealing meth. Subsequent to the arrest, Ewen was found to be in possession of additional meth. Officers questioned Ewen in regard to a previous meth dealing investigation that occurred in April in Orange County and were able to develop probable cause to arrest her for dealing meth in Orange County.
The arrests were possible thanks to tips and information police receives from the community. If anyone suspects illegal activity is occurring in their area, they should contact their local police or Sheriff's Department.
