(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Sheriff Mike Branham and Reserve Officer Jody East were presented with two checks totaling $2,187.
The donation will be used to purchase bicycles so officers can patrol the Milwaukee Road Transportation Trailway.
Richard Vonnegut with the Friend of Southern Indiana Trails presented the checks to the group.
Marcey Phillips of Friends of the Trail says having reserve officers on the trail will give people peace of mind.
Sheriff Branham says reserves are required to donate 24 hours a month of service and will be patrolling the trails as soon as the bikes are purchased and the reserves complete training.
The Bedford Fire Department has purchased an all-terrain, six-wheel-drive Polaris Ranged equipped with emergency service equipment and supplies to extinguish fires.
