(SEYMOUR) - Two people linked to the shooting death of a Seymour man now face charges in Jennings County for a burglary that occurred the day before the slaying.
32-year-old Daniel Combs and 25-year-old Andrea Hollin are accused of breaking into a North Vernon apartment April 29 to steal jewelry, cash and medications.
The two are being held in the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown, awaiting trial in the April 30 slaying and robbery of 42-year-old Gilbert Engle of Seymour. Police say Engle was killed at his downtown apartment after a night of using heroin and other drugs. Engle's body was found by his roommate.
Seymour Police Chief Bill Abbott says investigators believe Combs, of North Vernon, shot and killed Engle during an incident at Engle's second-floor apartment in the 200 block of North Chestnut Street.
21-year-old Jessica Jarrell of North Vernon was with Combs when the shooting occurred and helped steal drugs and cash from the apartment before the two left the area in a stolen PT Cruiser.
Hollin, of North Vernon, is faces a charge of armed robbery for her involvement in Engle's murder.
