Bedford Woman Arrested After Hitting Father

Last updated on Monday, July 6, 2015

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was arrested after she allegedly battered a man at a home on Tunnelton Road on the 4th of July.

According to Lawrence County Sheriff Mike Branham, officers were called to the home in the 4100 block of Tunnelton Road just before 4 a.m.

The male caller told police that he was asleep when he woke to his daughter "going nuts."

When police arrived they found the father and his daughter in the front yard.

The man told police 31-year-old Joy McGlothlin had attacked him, hitting him in the chest several times.

"When officers tried to talk to Ms. McGlothlin she continued to be loud and uncooperative with the officers," Branham says. "Officers warned her to calm down, but she refused, continuing to act in a disorderly manner."

Officers then informed McGlothlin she was being arrested for disorderly conduct and that is when she began resisting arrest.

"Officers asked the victim if he wanted to pursue battery charges, and he said that he did because he believed her actions to be the result of drug use, and she needs help," Branham says.

McGlothlin is facing charges of battery causing injury, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
