(BLOOMFIELD) - A three-year-old child in a safety seat escaped injury during a Monday night crash in eastern Greene County, but the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.
The crash, involving a single vehicle, occurred at approximately 9:18 p.m. Monday on State Road 45 at the intersection with East Sparks Road.
The driver, 42-year-old Paki Millington of Bloomington, was driving a 2001 GMC Yukon northbound on State Road 45. The vehicle ran off the east side of the roadway causing Millington to lose control. The vehicle rolled, stopping in the intersection.
Millington was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
She suffered possible injuries to the abdomen and upper leg and was transported by the Greene County Ambulance Service to the Center Township Fire Department. From there, she was airlifted to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute by Air Evac.
Millington's passenger, a three-year-old girl who was in a child restraint safety seat, was transported by the Greene County Ambulance Service to Bloomington Hospital for evaluation and then released with no injuries.
Assisting at the scene were deputies from the Greene County Sheriff's Department, Center Township Fire Department, the Greene County Ambulance Service and the Air Evac team.
