(BEDFORD) - Improvements to the Lawrence County Courthouse grounds began this Monday as a part of the City of Bedford’s Stellar Community initiative.
The work to be completed includes additional parking, new lighting, new sidewalks, as well as improved hardscape that better accommodates the public entrance on the north side of the building.
Landscaping and other features will be added that celebrate Lawrence County's unique heritage. In addition, a new flagpole and flag have been donated by Steve Fergusson that will be located on the west-side of the courthouse.
"Please pardon any mess and inconvenience that you may experience during the construction of this project," says Bedford Mayor Shawna Girgis. "Your patience will be rewarded with transformational results as we continue Building a Better Bedford.
A special thanks was given to the Lawrence County Commissioners; Lawrence County Council; Paula Stewart, Lawrence County Treasurer; Susan Gales, President of BRI, Lochmueller Group, Tri-County Builders; and City Staff, for all of their hard work and collaboration that is making this project a reality.
