(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University athletics officials say they’re exploring their options for a more lucrative apparel contract as the school’s contract with Adidas nears its end.
The Hoosiers' relationship with Adidas started in 2004. IU's current $21 million Adidas contract was signed in 2008 and expires next year. Jeremy Gray is IU's associate athletic director for strategic communications says the university is not unhappy with its relationship with Adidas, but is just exploring its options.
The Indianapolis Star reports that college apparel contracts have grown increasingly larger in recent seasons, including a $90-million, 10-year deal with Under Armour that lured the University of Notre Dame away from Adidas last year.
