(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Community Foundation board of directors awarded grants to 26 local agencies that submitted proposals for the 2015 open grant cycle.
According to a press released, funding for the annual grant application process was provided by the following endowment funds: LCCF Unrestricted Fund, Bicentennial Fund, Wilbur C. Dollens Fund, Bob Bridge Fund, Chloral Hilderbrand Community Grants Fund, Patrick and Sharon Robbins Fund for Lawrence County, Ralph W. "Shorty" & Bette R. Robison Fund, Smithville Charitable Foundation Fund, Eugene & Marilyn Glick Foundation Fund, Freeda & Opal Casada Fund, LCCF Education Fund, Morris D. Norman Fund and the M. Jeanette Norman Fund.
"It was an honor and pleasure to chair this exceptional committee," says Jim Buher, Chairman of the LCCF grants committee. "We had many interesting and creative proposals; the committee studied and evaluated each proposal carefully. We are very fortunate to have so many good organizations serving the needs of Lawrence County residents."
Buher pointed out that the community foundation is currently participating in the GIFT VI matching grant initiative issued by Lilly Endowment Inc.
"Any gifts to unrestricted funds are matched dollar for dollar, which will benefit future unrestricted grant-making in Lawrence County," he added.
The following grants will be awarded:
A challenge grant was awarded to Becky's Place; challenge grants require the organization to raise additional funding.
The foundation is a public charity recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to be proactive in creating and growing an enduring source of charitable assets and to identify and respond to the changing needs of Lawrence County.
