Last updated on Monday, July 13, 2015

(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested Friday morning after he allegedly broke into a rooming house, punched a man in the face and then took a woman against her will.

Police arrested 25-year-old Cody Freeman on charges of burglary, criminal confinement, battery resulting in injury and resisting arrest by force.

According to Mitchell Police Chief Mike Hardman, a man came to the police station just before 4:30 a.m. Friday to report that Freeman had forced his way into his room at the rooming house on Fifth Street, punched him in the face and then forced a woman to leave with him. The woman had fled to the man's room to get away from Freeman after a domestic fight earlier.

Police went to Freeman's home in the 200 block of Main Street and found Freeman and the woman there.

But Freeman was not cooperative with police, and as they attempted to arrest him he became combative. No one was injured during the incident.
