(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was injured when a pickup truck pulled in front of his 2002 Suzuki motorcycle Thursday night.
According to a Lawrence County police report, 25-year-old William Miller was traveling east on Spice Valley Road at 5:45 p.m. when 17-year-old Jessi Shafer of Mitchell was pulling from a driveway in the 2100 block of Spice Valley Road and drove her 2014 Chevrolet pickup into the path of Miller's motorcycle.
Police say there were 142 feet of skid marks from the motorcycle from the top of the hill to the point of impact.
Miller was thrown from the motorcycle and both him and the bike slid several feet along the south side of the road. Miller complained of lower leg pain and was taken by an IU Health Hospital ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Shafer told police she didn't see the motorcycle when she pulled out of the driveway. She was not injured.
Marion Volunteer Fire Department first responders assisted at the scene.
