Last updated on Tuesday, July 21, 2015

(BEDFORD) - A second man has been arrested in connection with a kidnapping on June 28.

Police arrested 31-year-old Jacob Bunch, of 406 Bailey Scales Rd., Friday on a warrant on felony charges of aiding, inducing or causing a kidnapping, aiding, inducing or causing criminal confinement and a misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended driver's license.

According to a probable cause affidavit Bunch assisted 31-year-old Michael Montgomery grab a woman while she was walking near Fourth Street and Lincoln Avenue on June 28.

Bedford Police Department received a 911 call from a witness who saw 31-year-old Michael Montgomery, who was in an SUV, pull up next to the woman, jump out and grab her and forced her into the back of SUV.

The witness told police the woman was screaming, lost a shoe and her glasses during the struggle with Montgomery.
Bunch who was driving didn't exit the vehicle.

The witness attempted to follow the vehicle but lost sight of it on Fayetteville Road near Purdue Farm Road because it was going too fast.

A second witness then called police when he saw the red SUV at Fifth Street and Ind. 37 and reported that a man (Montgomery) in the back seat was punching a woman sitting next to him.

Later, several callers reported seeing the same SUV at the Fayetteville Store. Police responded but there was no one in the vehicle.

Witnesses at the store told police they saw a man (Montgomery) and woman get out of the vehicle and run away.

Police found Bunch of the SUV inside the store. He told police that Montgomery had asked him to call the woman, which he did. The woman agreed to meet with Bunch at Fourth Street and Lincoln Avenue. Bunch told police that was where Montgomery jumped out and grabbed the woman.

Bunch told police he drove west out of town and ended up at the Fayetteville store.

Bunch says Montgomery and the woman saw the police cars, they jumped out of the car and ran because they were both wanted on warrants.

Hours later, police were called again after a report of a woman in a field on Fayetteville-Coxton Road.

When police arrived, the woman told them she was the woman that Montgomery had kidnapped.

She also told police Bunch, who was a friend of hers, had called wanting to hang out so she agreed to meet him. She told police she had no idea Montgomery would be with Bunch.

When Bunch arrived to pick her up, Montgomery jumped out, grabbed her and forced her into the SUV. When she tried to get away he began hitting her.

Police say the woman had deep bruising to her arms, a black eye and a busted lower lip.

The woman told police that once they arrived at the store, Montgomery pulled the woman out of the vehicle and they both took off running. That is when she was able to get away from Montgomery and hide until police found her.

Montgomery was arrested on felony charges of kidnapping, criminal confinement and battery causing injuries. At the time of these charges he was also wanted on warrants for dealing meth and petition to revoke probation.
