(BEDFORD) - Two men were arrested after Bedford Police received a tip of possible drug activity.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley officers received the tip around 12:20 p.m. Monday, that two men in a gold pickup truck had drugs and a gun.
Officers with the Lawrence County Drug Task Force located the vehicle at Seventh and X streets. The vehicle was pulled over in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store.
"While two officers talked to the occupants of the vehicle, a K-9 alerted officers to possible drugs in the truck," Parsley says.
Officers searched the vehicle and found a semi-automatic handgun with the serial numbers filed off under the seat.
"They also located digital scales and numerous drug paraphernalia coated with meth residue," Parsley added. "They also discovered several baggies with a powdery substance inside that tested positive for meth."
Officers arrested 19-year-old Dennis Davis III, of Mitchell and 24-year-old Ryan Pierce, of Bloomington. Both men were charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
Pierce was also charged with trafficking after he attempted to throw a baggie of heroin away at the Lawrence County Jail.
