Two Arrested On Drug Charges After Selling Dirt As Heroin

(BEDFORD) - Two people were arrested Wednesday evening after they attempted to sell dirt as heroin.

According Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers received a tip of a possible drug deal that would take place at 16th Street and Becky Skillman Way.

"We were given a description of the vehicle that would be involved and that there would be a heroin deal," Parsley says. "Officers spotted that vehicle and watched the drug transaction take place."

The vehicle was pulled over and a search done.

Officers didn't find drugs - but dirt.

"They sold the dirt as heroin," Parsley says.

Officers arrested 38-year-old Damien Carter, of Indianapolis and 35-year-old Lindsay O'Brien, of Avon, on charges of conspiracy to deal heroin, conspiracy to deal heroin over 1 gram, conspiracy to deal heroin over 5 grams, conspiracy to deal heroin over 10 grams, dealing a look-alike substance, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Carter is also facing a charge of driving while his driver's license was suspended.
