(BEDFORD) - Two people suffered injuries after a motorcycle accident Friday morning on Oolitic Road.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 54-year-old Mark Allam of Ellettsville suffered cuts to his face and his passenger, 42-year-old Billie Ellis of Mitchell, complained of pain to her back.
According to police, Allam was traveling northwest on Oolitic Road near Salt Creek bridge on his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he struck the guardrail. The motorcycle continued down the length of the guardrail and eventually flipped over it.
Both Allam and Ellis were thrown from the motorcycle. Neither were wearing a helmet during the incident.
An IU Health Hospital crew responded along with Shawswick Township and Oolitic Volunteer Fire Departments first responders.
Ellis was flown by helicopter to Methodist Hospital for treatment.
Police say Allam, who was incoherent, had been drinking at the time of the accident.
He told officers he didn't know what happened and was not aware if he was driving.
Allam submitted to a blood sample and those results are pending.
