(BEDFORD) - A Williams man was arrested Friday morning after a woman called the Lawrence County Police Department from a local business requesting an officer about a battery that happened in the county.
An officer took the woman's statement, contacted the Department of Child Services and brought the woman to the department so she could get the services she needed.
According to the woman, on Thursday her boyfriend, 27-year-old Dustin Weldon, misunderstood something she said and "blew up."
The incident happened between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
"The victim advised that Mr. Weldon had her in a head lock, pulled her hair and knocked her backward into a television, knocking it over," says Sheriff Mike Branham. "All of this occurred in the presence of the couple's 2-month old child."
Police say the woman, who suffered scratches and bruises on her back, did not seek medical treatment.
After making her statement and documenting the injuries, police went to Weldon's home Saturday afternoon and arrested him without incident on a charge of domestic battery in the presence of a minor.
