(BEDFORD) - Chris Galloway and the city are gearing up for the Bedford Half Marathon scheduled for October 10.
Galloway, race co-director says the 2015 race will start at 8 a.m. for all three races -- 13.1 miles, 5K and 1-mile family walk. There will be separate awards presentations. There will also be a race-themed backdrop for photos, an enhanced expo the day before, post-race food and a DJ.
One new change is a reduced registration cost for kids 14 and younger to participate. Their cost is just $10. The goal is to increase youth participation this year.
Galloway says last year 106 children participated in the event and the goal for this year is to double that number.
He is also hoping more people will come out and support the racers, waving signs and shouting words of encouragement.
Sponsors for this year's event are: Live Well Lawrence County, Hoosier Uplands, Bedford Federal Savings Bank, Hubler Chevrolet, German American, Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital, Hoosier Hills Credit Union, Lawrence County Tourism, Lawrence County Economic Growth Council, Parker Group and the city of Bedford.
