(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Sheriff Mike Branham presented the commissioners with a letter of commendation to Assistant Clerk of Works Dan Bush.
"The officers and staff want to show our appreciation for all Dan does," Branham says. "He works his tail off for us. He loves his job and it shows."
Commissioner Dave Flinn says the county is "blessed" with two good men to take care of the county's needs.
"We are extremely lucky to have Reggie and Dan," Flinn added. "They are so good at solving problems and getting things done and save this county countless dollars."
Sheriff Branham says they have had some issues with the jail's generator.
"It needed a new starter and three new batteries," he added.
Sheriff Branham asked the commissioners to approve him to go into a three year contract to have the 2008 generator annually inspected. The cost would be $1,221 a year.
The ramp to the entrance of the jail will not have to be replaced, says Branham.
"It will need rehabilitated," he added. "We will look into making some minor repairs for now for the short term."
The cost to replace the ramp would be more than $100,000.
Sheriff Branham reported there were 140 inmates at the jail Tuesday morning, of those 42 were female and three were Department of Correction holds.
