(BEDFORD) - A fire caused minor damage to a home in the 1200 block of Peerless Road Sunday morning.
According to Shawswick Volunteer Fire Chief Bob Brown, firefighters were called to the fire at 9:16 a.m. at the home of Aaron Scott.
Firefighters from Oolitic and Marshall VFDs also responded.
"The homeowner told firefighters that he heard an S-10 pass his home and then what he thought was a backfire. A short time later a second motorist stopped to tell him his house was on fire.
"Her two daughters were asleep in the bedroom near where the fire started," Brown says. "Scott grabbed a fire extinguisher and was able to put out the fire before firefighters arrived."
Brown says there was damage to the siding and soffit.
"There was some smoke in the attic area," Brown added. "We stayed on the scene for about an hour to make sure the fire would not reignite and had not spread into the attic area."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
