(JASPER) - The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department intercepted 110 grams of marijuana as it was being mailed to a Jasper home.
On Thursday, the Dubois County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Detective received an anonymous tip about possible drug activity at 228 W. 15th St., in Jasper.
Officers sought a search warrant for the Dubois County Prosecuting Attorney's office. After being granted the search warrant, officers executed that warrant at the home and found a small quantity of marijuana and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
The resident, 22-year-old Kyle Watkins, was issued a summons to appear in court on a Level 6 felony charge of maintaining a common nuisance, a misdemeanor charge of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
While searching the residence, officers were able to determine Watkins was receiving the drug from out of state through the U.S. Postal Service.
Deputies contacted the U.S. Postal Inspectors to assist in the investigation and were able to intercept a package of the drug before it was delivered to Watkins with the assistance of the Dubois County Sheriffs Department K-9, Judge.
Officers then received a second search warrant to open the package and found 110 grams of high-grade marijuana inside.
The case is still under investigation and more arrests are pending.
