(BEDFORD) - Members of River’s Edge Fellowship Church are bringing a community party to bring the word of Christ to the streets on Saturday.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. on the vacant lot next to Shawnee Apartments near the Great Escape Theatre.
Pastor Phil Thorne says the event is to show people that church isn't just about a set of rules and regulations, but also a group of fun people loving Christ and fellowshipping.
Thorne says many won't go to church, so this is the congregations way of bringing church to the people.
Activities include bouncy inflatables, face painting and bean bag toss for children, plus a corn hole competition and Frisbee toss for adults.
The Bedford Fire Department and Air Evac will both be at the event with a fire truck and helicopter.
There will also be door prizes and gift cards.
Free refreshments the church will provide hot dogs, buns and soft drinks , and the White River Baptist Association contributes cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn.
Thorne emphasized the church will not be accepting donations at the event.
Thorne wanted to thank Dr. Lawrence Howell of Atrium Dental Center for allowing the church to use his lot.
