(BUDDHA) - Two men were arrested on drug charges after Lawrence County Police officers were called to the former Buddha store early Monday morning after a report of two men attempting to break into the store and the vending machines outside of the store.
The store is currently closed, but a vending machine remains on the lot.
Officers received a call just after midnight from a nearby resident who says the two men's truck had broke down in the parking lot across from the store and the hood was up. The caller then reported that the two men were at the store with flashlights and were beating on the store windows and door and the vending machine attempting to break into the building and machine.
According to Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, when police arrived they found 35-year-old Travis East and 23-year-old Lance Grime sitting inside the truck.
Grimes, who was sitting in the driver's seat, was asked to exit the vehicle and when he did a syringe was discovered in the middle of the driver's seat. Officers then asked East to step out of the vehicle. When he did, officers discovered several metallic "cooking spoons" on the floorboard.
Officers also located a baggie in the truck console that contained what tested positive for crystal meth.
Both men were arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia. Grimes is facing an additional charge of maintaining a common nuisance and East is facing an additional charge of visiting a common nuisance. Both men are being held in the Lawrence County Jail on a $755 cash or $7,500 surety bond.
