(BEDFORD) - A Williams man was arrested on battery charges Wednesday night after Lawrence County police were called to a home in the 160 block of Rawlins Street at 5:14 p.m.
Officers were called to the home after a report of a domestic dispute, but while on the way to the home officers were told the man had injured the woman and had fled the home on foot.
Police found 26-year-old Travis Cain walking on Denson Street.
"The male was ID'ed as Travis Cain, and had blood on his hand and a red mark on his forehead," Sheriff Mike Branham said.
When police went to the home Cain's girlfriend told police she had asked Cain to move out of the home.
"That caused him to get angry and push her two times before hitting the handrail on the porch and head-butting a post," Branham added. "A witness at the scene corroborated the victim's account of what happened and Mr. Cain was arrested for domestic battery."
The Department of Child Services was contacted due to three children living in the home, however the children were not present at the time of the incident.
