(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was injured after he blacked out while driving Sunday morning.
According to a Bedford Police report, 23-year-old Austin Brown of Bedford, who is also a EMS employee for IU Health Hospital, had just gotten off work at 7 a.m. and had left work at 7:15 a.m.
He told police that he was driving south on Clinic Drive when he blacked out for a second. When he woke he saw he had struck a sign and damaged his driver's outside mirror. He told police he drove back to the ambulance crew quarters, a short distance away. As he was being checked out by co-workers, he blacked out again.
Brown also complained of elbow and lower arm pain. He was taken by ambulance to IU Health emergency room by his co-workers for treatment.
Brown was in the emergency room being treated when police were alerted to the accident. There was no visible signs of damage to any street signs on Clinic Drive.
