(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man was taken arrested at the scene of a garage fire near Lake Monroe early Friday morning, following a shooting south of Spencer that left one man injured.
Police arrested 54-year-old Danny J. Howe at a garage fire at 8576 1/2 South Fairfax Road. He was taken to the Owen County Jail where he is is on a 72-hour hold.
The shooting happened on Bryansville Road, south of Spencer around 10 p.m. on Thursday. According to Owen County police, officers were called to the scene after a report of a motorcycle accident and shooting.
The victim was flown by a medical helicopter to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, where he is listed in critical but stable condition. Police are not releasing the victim's name.
Before the man was flown from the scene he was able to give police information which led them to the Fairfax address.
They arrived at the Fairfax address at 12:46 a.m. Friday. There they found Howe and a garage engulfed in flames.
After the fire was put out, firefighters discovered a burned-out Jeep or sport utility vehicle inside the garage. Firefighters set up flood lights while police secured the area around the garage with crime scene tape.

Members of the Indiana State Police, Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office, Indiana Department of Natural Resources and Monroe County Sheriff's Office continued Friday collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Firefighters from Perry-Clear Creek, Van Buren and Indian Creek battled the garage fire.
