(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University police are investigating a sexual assault that allegedly happened during a fraternity recruitment party at an off-campus apartment.
Police were called to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, after a woman reported she had been been sexually assaulted sometime between midnight and 3 a.m. Friday. According to police, the alleged incident happened during a fraternity recruitment party held at an apartment in the 400 block of South Walnut Street.
IU Police Department Lt. Craig Munroe says the woman met the man for the first time at the party. The woman and 19-year-old man then left the party area to another part of the apartment and that is where the alleged incident happened.
Police are scheduling an interview with the man.
Friday's alleged sexual assault is the fifth reported incident this year.
Three of the assaults allegedly happened in university dormitories.
Last month, an IU police officer driving through an alley saw what appeared to be a man and a woman engaging in sexual activity in an alley behind Dunnkirk Square on East Kirkwood Avenue. The woman, a 20-year-old IU student, told the officer she did not give consent. The 28-year-old man was not an IU student, claims the woman consented.
All of the sexual assault cases remain under investigation.
