(BLOOMINGTON) - An Indiana University student is faces two felony counts of rape after he allegedly assaulted of two different women.
One incident happened in April during a fraternity party and the other in October 2013 before a fraternity-sorority dance.
21-year-old John Phillip Enochs of Downers Grove, Illinois turned himself in at the Monroe County Jail early Friday morning. He was released an hour later after posting a $20,000 surety, $500 cash bond. Enochs is scheduled to appear in court on November 10.
Police say news of the April sexual assault prompted the second woman to come forward and report her assault.
In the April incident, a woman told police she and her friends attended a party at the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house, at 1431 N. Jordan Ave. The woman told Indiana University police she remembered being with her friends in the courtyard and entering the fraternity to find a restroom. Then blacked out. The next thing she remembered was being sexually assaulted in a private room by a man she didn't know. She told police she told the man to stop several times.
The woman's friends found her in a restroom, took her back to the dorms and called police. She then was taken to the hospital for a sexual assault examination.
Police have reviewed video surveillance from the fraternity and it shows Enochs leading the woman down the first floor hallway, trying a door handle on one door, then entering a room on the opposite side of the hall with the woman.
The woman did picked Enochs from a photo lineup, saying "he resembled the male who raped her," the report reads.
Enochs' DNA matched three DNA samples collected during the woman's hospital examination.
In the October 2013 incident, a woman reported that Enochs was her date to a dance at an off-campus location. She claimed she didn't really know Enochs, but he was friends with the dates of her friends.
The woman and her friends started drinking Fireball Whiskey at about 5:30 p.m. at her sorority house and at the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house. Then she blacked out. The woman woke wearing different clothes than what she had on. The woman could not remember the incident, but was told by friends that it appeared she and Enochs had sex. Witnesses who were in the courtyard told police they could see Enochs and the woman through a bedroom window. One witness told police that Enochs was with the woman and she appeared to be "passed out." When Enoch saw the witness he shut the window blinds. The witness attempted to help the woman, but found Enoch had locked the door.
Police also reviewed text messages between the woman and Enochs. In those messages, Enochs confirmed the woman was passed out during the incident.
