(BEDFORD) - The 2016 planning meeting for Relay for Life will be tonight at the Hoosier Hills Credit Union annex building.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and help plan for the 2016 Relay for Life Event.
"We are in need of volunteers to help us battle this deadly disease," says Community Manager, Relay For Life Melissa Pressler.
Relay for Life raises funds raised to support groundbreaking cancer research, education and prevention programs, and critical services for people facing cancer.
Participating in this years at Parkview Parkview Intermediate School track this June were: 19 teams, 56 registered survivors, 291 registered participants, and 8 ACS Cancer Action Network members.
Also adding to the fight against cancer was the Bedford North Lawrence baseball team who raised $5,245 with a coaches vs. cancer game
"We are so pleased with their participation," says Pressler. "We would like to really get some more youth involvement this year, especially with coaches vs. cancer games and fundraisers. Employees at Hoosier Hills Credit Union also pitched in with donating their time, funds and a place for the planning committee to meet."
Super Oldies 105.5 WQRK with DJ Rick St. Nick were also at the event with a live broadcast, entertainment, games and prizes.

It is not too late for community members to get involved by volunteering at fundraisers, forming a team or making a donation to help in the battle against cancer.
