(MITCHELL) - Two people were injured after they crashed a scooter on Rabbitsville Road Friday morning.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, officers were notified about the accident by emergency crews after 43-year-old Scottie Crane of Mitchell called requesting an ambulance at a home in the 7200 block of Ind. 60.
When police arrived, Crane told officers he had been on Rabbitsville Road earlier in the day when the accident happened, but he couldn't tell police exactly where the accident happened. But that he was on Rabbitsville Road when he hit some loose hay on the roadway which caused him to lose control of the scooter and crash.
After the crash, Crane returned the scooter to the owner.
Crane's passenger, 26-year-old Jennifer Tumey of Mitchell, suffered a compound fracture of her femur. She was taken by a Seals ambulance to Mitchell High School where she was taken by Air Evac to the University of Louisville Hospital.
Crane, who suffered head lacerations and bruising, was taken by an IU Health Hospital to IU Health Hospital for treatment. Police also requested a blood-alcohol test.
