(BEDFORD) - Two men were arrested early this morning after they caused a disturbance at Denny’s.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers rushed to the restaurant after officers received a call just before 3 a.m. reporting two men had threatened to "shoot up the place and kill everyone inside."
"Officers found the two men sitting inside and being belligerent, and loud," Parsley says.
Officers immediately placed 56-year-old Dennis Meadows of Mitchell and 24-year-old Bryan Meadows of Bedford in handcuffs for safety reasons.
According to staff, the two men came into the restaurant being loud and smelling of alcohol.
"They then began taunting two people who had gone to the restroom together," Parsley says. "They were being rude and threatening."
When the staff asked the men to stop, that is when Dennis Meadows threatened to "shoot up the place and kill everyone inside."
Management at Denny's immediately evacuated the restaurant and called police.
When police entered they smelled the alcohol, and the men were continuing to be belligerent. Officers handcuffed the men, found no gun, and arrested them.
Dennis Meadows is facing charges of public intoxicated and intimidation after making the threats to "shoot up" the establishment. Bryan Meadows is facing a charge of public intoxication.
