(SALEM) - Around 60 people were evacuated for an hour following a gas leak at a residence at 1616 Highway 60 West in Salem.
The evacuation began around 4 p.m. on Saturday.
According to Salem Fire Chief Tom Day, there had been an auction in the area earlier in the day and a vehicle driving in the yard struck a gas riser. It broke on the high-pressure side, releasing gas at between 320 to 340 psi.
No one was hurt but the fire department evacuated a mobile home park adjacent to the home as a precaution. The evacuation was about a half a mile area because of a wind change direction.
