(BEDFORD) - Jenell Lutes, the daughter of Jeff and Jill Lutes, has received the Hoosier Pride 4-H Scholarship in Agricultural Studies at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.
Jenell is a graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School and was an active 4-H member in the Lawrence County Horse and Pony Club. She is a junior at Murray State studying veterinary technology.
Jenell was awarded her scholarship at the Murray State Homecoming last week.
The scholarship was established by former Indiana Purdue Extension educator Michael McKinney, in memory of his parents, Forrest and Elizabeth McKinney of Indianapolis. The scholarship is awarded annually to an Indiana resident with a strong 4-H record.
Murray State is recognized as having one of the largest and most comprehensive non-land grant agriculture programs in the nation. Dr. Jay Akridge, Purdue's dean of agriculture, is a 1982 Murray State alumnus. McKinney is a 1969 MSU Graduate and was an extension agent in Rush, Elkhart and Fountain counties prior to joining the University of Florida faculty.
Murray State is located in western Kentucky and recognizes Indiana students with a significant tuition discount. Residents of Posey, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties are eligible for Kentucky in-state tuition.
