(SPRINGVILLE) - A Bedford man was arrested after he crashed his 1995 Ford F-250 into a utility pole Sunday on Old Farm Road near Montana Lane.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 23-year-old Tyler Blackwell of Bedford was traveling south on Old Farm Road at a high-rate of speed when he drove his truck off the west side of the road into a ditch in the 3500 block of Old Farm Road. The truck struck a driveway culvert, a mailbox then a utility pole.
Blackwell stayed with the truck, but his two passengers fled the scene and were found walking south on Old Farm Road a short distance from the accident scene.
Both passengers refused medical attention as did Blackwell. The passengers did tell police that Blackwell was driving the truck at the time of the accident.
Police determined Blackwell was intoxicated and was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and false reporting.
