(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he fled the scene of an accident Tuesday morning at John Williams Boulevard and R Street.
Police arrested 30-year-old Brandon Ashley of Bedford on charges of resisting arrest, driving while driver's license suspended and leaving the scene of an accident. He was cited for failure to yield the right of way, expired license plates and for not having insurance.
According to a Bedford Police report, 65-year-old Stanley Gratzer of Bedford was traveling east on John Williams Boulevard and was approaching the R Street intersection when he saw a black car approaching from the north on J Street.
As Gratzer passed the intersection, Ashley, the driver of the 1996 black Pontiac Sunfire, failed to stop at the stop sign and collided into Gratzer's 1988 Chevrolet pickup.
The collision spun Gratzer's truck causing it to collide with a retaining wall.
Ashley exited his car and fled the scene.
Shortly after, there was a foot-pursuit and officers were able to capture and arrest Ashley.
