(BEDFORD) - A Bedford teen was injured in a two-vehicle accident on 16th Street on Saturday night.
According to a Bedford Police report, 17-year-old Dalson Terrell of Bedford was traveling west on 16th Street and told police he couldn't remember if the stop light was red or green at the intersection of 16th and Beech streets.
At the same time 72-year-old James Veal of Bedford was traveling south on Beech Street and attempting to turn left onto 16th Street. Veal says he had the green light and told police that as he was making the turn his 2008 Chevrolet Trail Blazer was struck by a 2005 Yamaha moped driven by Terrell.
Witnesses told police Terrell ran the red light and the moped struck Veal's car.
Terrell was thrown from the moped and was wearing a helmet. He complained of chest pain and both he and his passenger, who was not named in the accident report, but suffered minor injuries, refused medical treatment.
Veal was not injured.
Terrell was cited for disregarding an automatic traffic signal and for having a passenger on the moped.
