(HELTONVILLE) - A Heltonville man was arrested Friday after police say he grabbed a woman by her ears, shook her and shoved her backwards.
Lawrence County police were called to a home at 7:32 p.m. about a domestic fight.
When police arrived the 35-year-old woman told police her and her husband, James Sowders, had been arguing when James began playing a movie she felt was inappropriate for children to watch. The woman told police that James shut off the movie, but then turned it back on shortly thereafter.
That is when the dispute turned physical.
The woman alleges that 40-year-old Sowders grabbed her by her ears and shook her head, then shoved her backwards causing her to suffer pain to her ears and head.
Three children; ages 5, 10 and 15; were in the home and could hear and see the fight.
"James Sowders' version of the incident was consistent with the victim's," says Sheriff Mike Branham. "He was arrested for domestic battery and domestic battery in the presence of a minor."
