(MITCHELL) - Mitchell residents were on edge waiting for the results of Tuesday’s election.
Independent John "JD" England edged out Republican candidate Dan Terrell by four votes 499 to 495 to claim the Mayor's seat. Democrat Eugene "Pud" Terrell received 229 with Bill Conley receiving 8.
Winning the Mitchell City Council at large seat was Democrat William "Bill" Arnold with 613 votes or 56.34 percent, followed by David Hall with 306 or 28.13 percent and Independent William Erdle with 169 or 15.53 percent.
Taking the City Council District 1 seat was Democrat Larry Caudell defeating incumbent Republican Nancy Miller. Caudell claimed 55.54 percent of the votes taking 576 with Miller taking 44.46 percent with 461 votes.
Taking the District 2 seat was Republican Nathan Jenkins with 637 votes. Independent Herbert "Herbie" Asbury who had 341 votes.
Democrat Incumbent Joey Slone will continue to serve on the city council representing District 3. He defeated Republican Perry Reynolds 565 to 536.
Democrat Incumbent Everett Ferrel will also continue to serve on the city council representing District 4. He defeated Republican Franklin Talbott 617 to 495.
