(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police arrested an Indianapolis man on an attempted murder charge after he allegedly shot a man at Oakdale Square Apartments Sunday night.
Investigators found 19-year-old Mahamoud S. Ibrahim at his home in Indianapolis early Wednesday morning.
The man who was shot in the left shoulder is expected to be released from the hospital.
According to police, Ibrahim knew the man he shot, saying the two had purchased marijuana from one another.
Bloomington police were called to the apartments in the 2000 block of South Oakdale Drive, off Bloomfield Road, just after 11 p.m. Sunday.
The 23-year-old man from Fort Wayne at first told police he didn't know who fired several shots in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
The man later gave police a nickname for the man who shot him.
Fort Wayne police provided Bloomington investigators with the man's full name and where he lived in Indianapolis. The suspect had previously lived in Fort Wayne.
Ibrahim told police he intended on purchasing marijuana, but owed the man money from a previous drug buy. He told police he thought the man was going to pull a gun on him,so he pulled out his semi-automatic handgun and fired.
Police say the victim was not armed.
Ibrahim was also on a warrant for a felony charge of robbery in Allen County. A jury trial for in that case is scheduled in December.
