(BEDFORD) - More than 320 people shared a Thanksgiving dinner Saturday provided by Bertha’s Mission.
The dinner was served Saturday at the First Baptist Church. More than 115 meals were delivered by volunteers to residents who could not attend the event.
Hoosier Hills Credit Union provided the tea, coffee, water and lemonade, Bertha's Mission Youth Group gave sodas, Smokin' Jim's BBQ smoked the meat. HHCU, StoneBridge Health Campus and Keach and Grove also sent volunteers along with the Bedford North Lawrence Key Club and Shawswick Middle School Beta Club. First Baptist Church members also pitched in and provided all of the desserts. Vicki Rainey of Old Union Christian Church oversaw the serving line volunteers.
Pendergrass, from Dayton, Ohio, provided entertainment at the dinner.
Janice Nickeo, director and founder of Bertha's Mission says it is not about giving those in need food, it's about fellowship.
The mission serves meals in Bedford three days a week and in Mitchell two days a week.
