(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was seriously injured after a two-vehicle collision Saturday at the intersection of State Road 37 and Brock Lane.
Bedford Police say 45-year-old Joseph Wells suffered severe bleeding to his head and internal injuries. He was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital. According to Facebook posts, Wells suffered a ruptured spleen, broken pelvis, and fractured skull and two 2 collapsed lungs. He is listed in stable but critical condition.
According to police, 62-year-old Kenneth Spradlin of Campbellsburg was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus and was turning left from State Road 37 and was in the median waiting for traffic to clear to then turn on Brock Lane.
Spradlin told police another motorist waved him through and he didn't see Wells' 2015 Harley Davidson and pulled into the path of the motorcycle. Wells, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle.
Spradlin suffered scratches to his head.
Spradlin was taken to the hospital and consented tor a blood draw to be conducted. After the blood draw was completed, Spradlin was cited for failure to yield the right of way and was released. The blood test results are pending.
