(BEDFORD) - The North Lawrence School Board will not meet Thursday, but on Wednesday for an open session at 12:45 p.m.
Following that meeting, Superintendent Gary Conner says the board will begin a board conference at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Dennis Martin.
Martin, a psychology and former social studies teacher at Bedford North Lawrence High School, was placed on administrative leave with pay on September 10 pending an independent investigation into allegations made by a student or multiple students that Martin had patted students on the back and another girl accused him of "trying to feel her bra strap."
Conner says the conference with Martin will be an executive session and not open to the public.
The board has set aside 8 hours for the conference.
At their September 10 meeting, after nearly 30 people spoke in support of Martin, school board members rejected Martin's resignation. The veteran instructor also has found support on social media, particularly through his own Facebook posts and a change.org petition signed by more than 2,000 people.
The process for addressing such matters stipulates Martin could request the conference with the school board, which he did.
