(DAVIESS CO.) - Police arrested two Washington men on warrants for attempted robbery resulting in bodily injury after they attempted to steal an elderly woman’s purse.
According to Washington Police on October 11, 19-year-old Jacob Kunze and 18-year-old Nicholas White are accused of knocking down a woman at Walmart and then attempting to steal her purse.
Police say that it took awhile to piece evidence together and make the arrests.
According to police they had to locate the Jeep that was used as the getaway vehicle and one of the men had left the area to attend school.
Police say the men targeted the older woman, thinking she would be an easy target.
But she was not such an easy target, and fought to keep her purse and the men fled without it.
White was arrested Thursday. Kunze was arrested early Friday.
Local police were assisted by the U.S. Marshal Task Force, Indiana State Police, Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Department, Public Safety Personnel at the University of Southern Indiana and the Bloomington Police Department.
Both men were taken to the Daviess County Jail and each are being held on a $50,000 bond.
White has posted bond. Kunze remains in jail.
