(SALEM) - The Washington County Health Department has an estimated 60 free doses of flu shots along with some paid shots.
According to Nurse Peggy Scott, everyone 6 months of age and older should get a flu vaccine every season. This is especially true for people who are at high risk of complications from the flu.
The CDC says the flu vaccine is the best ways to avoid the flu this season is getting the flu shot. While it doesn't protect from all strains of the flu and needs to be in one's system for a period of time before fully protecting that person, it can be one of the easiest and best defenses against the illness. It's important to continue good habits to prevent illness in general, such as washing your hands frequently and avoiding close contact with those who are sick.
