(GIBSON CO.) - A Washington man facing ten felony charges will ask for a change of venue.
The Princeton Daily Clarion reports that Daniel Moon, the court-appointed defense attorney for James Allen, says he plans to file for a change of venue from Gibson County.
Allen is being held in the Gibson County Jail on charges stemming from the September crash on I-69 that killed two people and injured 22 other passengers in the van he was driving.
According to the report, the Gibson County Prosecutor's Office will oppose the venue change. A hearing on the request is scheduled for January 6. Allen is set to stand trial on April 25. 30-year-old Allen also faces at least three civil suits as a result of the crash.
Allen was the driver of the van involved in the I-69 accident on September 24 killing two; 29-year-old Christela Georges and 60-year-old Gena Moise. Both women died from injuries sustained in the incident.
He is facing 22 charges including driving while under the influence of marijuana resulting in the death.
