(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested Monday after he allegedly held a woman down and choked her.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to a home in the 900 block of L Street at 11:21 p.m. Sunday.
The woman told police she had been asleep on the couch when 35-year-old Ryan Tong came into the room and turned on the light, waking the woman.
The two argued, and that is when the woman says that Tong jumped on the couch where she was sleeping and attempted to hold her down by her wrists. The two struggled and that is when Tong allegedly placed both hands around her neck and choked her.
The woman was able to escape and call police, but Tong had fled the home before police arrived.
Parsley says the woman had visible red marks on both wrists and her neck.
Police searched near the home and found Tong asleep in the back of a vehicle parked at the house.
He was arrested early Monday morning on charges of domestic battery.
