(HURON) - Firefighters from Huron and Marion Volunteer Fire Departments battled a blaze that destroyed a vacant home Sunday night.
According to Huron VFD Chief Mark Jones, firefighters were called to the blaze at 6122 U.S. 50 West at 9:14 p.m. When firefighters arrived the single-story older home with a Partial basement was engulfed in flames.
"It took us less then 30 minutes to get the fire under control," Jones added. "We had 8 firefighters with three trucks and Marion had 9 firefighters with two trucks on scene."
The home is owned by Jennifer Loy, of Bloomington, was destroyed.
"The cause of the fire is under investigation," Jones says. "The State Fire Marshal will be here today to investigate. The home had been vacant for four years and there were no utilities on at the home."
