(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police arrested a woman who they say removed her home detention anklet and a man who was carrying a stolen handgun during a traffic stop near Interstate 69 early Friday morning.
According to police, the Michigan City couple were traveling to Evansville on I-69. Police pulled over a car driven by 33-year-old Angela Sheeler for a traffic violation in the area of Tapp Road and Ind. 37 near I-69 at about 12:48 a.m.
During that traffic stop, the officer discovered Sheeler was wanted on a LaPorte County warrant for robbery and escape from home detention.
Police found her passenger, 21-year-old Karl "Tank" Clemons, with a stolen handgun from a Michigan City robbery as well as cocaine.
Both were taken to the Monroe County Jail waiting to return to LaPorte County.
