(INDIANAPOLIS) - Rep. Steve Davisson (R-Salem) was presented with the Hero for Recovery Award by Mental Health America (MHA). The award was presented by Stephen McCaffrey, president and CEO of MHA, at their 2015 Heroes for Recovery luncheon.
"Receiving this award is an honor and I am humbled by it," Davisson said. "As a member of the House Public Health Committee, I remain committed to addressing mental health and addiction issues that Hoosiers are facing across the state. I admire the work of MHA and look forward to working closely with them this legislative session."
According to MHA, Davisson was chosen for this award for his work on the attorney general's Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force and his legislation regarding opioid drug abuse and addiction treatment.
"Steve works hard as full participant of the Attorney General's Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force and there he has distinguished himself as a subject matter expert and legislative leader on prescription drug abuse," McCaffrey said. "Steve is literally the epitome of what this Heroes in Recovery Award is all about--a true hero in the field who silently makes a difference in people's lives."
