(BEDFORD) - A Bedford couple was arrested after police were called to the Mark III Motel Saturday morning.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley officers were called to the motel around 11:38 a.m. after the management requested officers because an occupant failed to vacate their room or pay for an additional day.
When police arrived, both they and the management went to the room and knocked on the door. No one would answer. Management then opened the door . Inside they found 56-year-old Anthony Sego and 32-year-old Sarah Taflinger asleep in bed. Officers yelled from the doorway to wake the pair.
"On the bedside table in plain view officers saw a glass smoking device and a plastic bag containing a white-milk rock, two lighters and a handgun," Parsley says.
Officers entered the room once they saw the gun and secured the scene.
"When asked if there were any other drugs in the room, Mr. Sego confirmed there was," Parsley says. " Ms. Taflinger had rented the room and signed a consent to search."
Officers discovered several plastic bags that contained meth that were packed for sale, scales, smoking devices and Alprozolem which neither had a prescription for.and more than 15 grams of meth.
Both were arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of meth more than 10 grams but less than 28 grams with enhanced circumstances, possession of meth more than 10 grams but less then 28 grams, possession of meth more than 5 grams but less than 10 grams, possession of meth more than 5 grams but less than 10 grams with enhanced circumstances, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance.
