(FAYETTEVILLE) - Two people were injured Saturday night after the driver attempted to miss hitting a deer on Avoca Eureka Road.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 26-year-old Robert Lee of Bedford was traveling south on Avoca Eureka Road when a deer ran in front of his 1997 Jeep Cherokee.
Lee swerved to miss the deer, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree.
Police say because of the wet and foggy conditions Lee was traveling under the speed limit.
Lee suffered a compound fracture to his upper right leg. He was taken by a Seals ambulance crew to IU Health Bedford Hospital. His passenger, Shyann Lee of Bedford, complained of leg pain. She was taken by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
